FEATURED: Bellarte Restaurant - St. Petersburg, Florida
Saint Petersburg, Florida was named after
Saint Petersburg Russia, the birthplace of Peter Demens. John C.
Williams, formerly of Detroit, Michigan, purchased the land in 1876.
His friend Peter Demens, helped bring in a railroad connection there
in 1888. The city was founded by Williams and allegedly a coin flip
between Williams and Demens allowed Demens to name the city. He
named it after St Petersburg, his city of birth.
